Fish Lighting

Factors that influence the type and quantity of light required are:

  • Size of aquarium
  • Fish species and other aquatic inhabitants
  • Plant life
  • Aesthetics

Fluorescent lighting is an efficient, effective choice for many aquariums.
It evenly illuminates the full length of the aquarium and efficiently converts
energy consumed into light. Fluorescent lights provide aquariums with lighting which will stimulate photosynthesis, while contributing to a beautiful aquarium display. Incandescent lighting is available but does not offer the same aesthetic or efficiency value of fluorescent lighting.

Reflectors

We stock standard reflectors for aquarium/terrarium use. Power used depends on the wattage of the fluorescent tube used. Black, or double reflectors can also be ordered on request. Sizes available: 12" 18" 24" 36" 48" 60" 72"

Fluorescent Tube

We stock fluorescent tubes in the same lengths as mentioned above. Fluorescent tubes for aquariums are not the same as the standard tubes that may be used in your home. They provide sufficient light and UV to reproduce the portions of sunlight that fish and plants require to grow and remain healthy.
